There are so many benefits to health and wellbeing that can be achieved with deep relaxation, including reduced stress and anxiety, less muscle tension and physical pain, as well as an increased sense of wellbeing and
a positive mind state. Using the BAST (British Academy of Sound Therapy) method, which has over 20 years of experience and research, I will take you on a journey, bathing you in sound using Himalayan singing bowls, crystal singing bowls, gong and therapeutic percussion.

Welcome and Important Information
before considering attending a Sound Bath
If you would like to attend a Sound bath session, can you check the contraindications and get back to me if you have answered yes to any of the following questions.
CONTRAINDICATIONS AND INFORMATION
1) If female, are you less than 3 months pregnant? It is generally very safe to attend Sound Baths whilst you are pregnant, however, do please check with your midwife first. Pregnant women need to lie on their left hand side rather than directly onto their back.
2) Do you have, or have you had, frequently triggered epilepsy or any seizures which you believe are sound triggered?
3) Are you currently being treated for, or do you currently have, clinical depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, dis-associative disorders, paranoid schizophrenia or any other serious mental health condition?
4) Have you had a diagnosis of PTSD (or feel you have PTSD).
5) Have you recently had surgery or any medical procedure? Are there any complications or pain with this?
6) Are you prone to anaphylaxis or require any life-saving medication to be administered? Do you need to carry an epi-pen for example?
7) Do you have any serious medical condition or general special need (but are not considered a "vulnerable person") I should know about beforehand?
8) Are you comfortable lying on the floor? (you can sit in a chair and still receive all the benefits of a sound bath)
9) Do you have metal implants in your body, such as pins or joints?
10)Are you under 18 years of age or considered to be a vulnerable adult?
Attending a Sound Bath
ATTENDING A SOUNDBATH - WHAT TO BRING
* PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BEFORE START TIME TO SETTLE INTO THE SPACE
* Wear warm, comfortable clothing, fluffy socks & jumpers. It is better to be too warm than cold
* Bring an eye mask or eye pillow if you have one. This makes it easier "to block the outside world out".
* Bring a yoga mat, a blanket to cover yourself with and an extra blanket to lie on for added comfort.
* Pregnant women who are over 12 weeks are welcome to attend. Do please check with your midwife, however, the instruments are not placed directly onto you, and you can choose to lie further away from them. It is advised that pregnant women do not lie on their back, especially in the third trimester, so please do bring additional supports with you, so that you are able to lie on your left hand side comfortably.
* Bring props, a bolster or pillow if any parts of your body need propping up. It is advisable to put a pillow under your knees for added lower back support. Pregnant women need to lie on their left hand side rather than flat on their back, so do please bring along your pregnancy pillow and any additional things to make you feel really comfortable.
* Bring a water bottle
SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE THE SOUND BATH
* Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Soundwaves travel better through water. When you are well hydrated, you will have a better experience.
* Eat light and healthy food before the sound bath.
* Set your intentions and be positive.
About Me
Hello, I'm Karen Miles. I studied singing at the Royal Academy of Music, obtaining my professional certificate and LRAM. I then went on to do a postgraduate singing course at Trinity College of Music, having been awarded the Countess of Munster Musical Trust Scholarship. I am a soprano.
I pursued a career in music publishing before my son was born, and then when he was tiny, started volunteering for the National Childbirth Trust. I went on to train as a breastfeeding counsellor and then an antenatal teacher, qualifying in 2010 and 2016 respectively, which I am still doing to this day, and consider it such a privilege to be a very small part of new parents' journeys to parenthood.
All this time I have still been singing, specialising in Oratorio and recital work.
My first love, however, has always to be able to use sound holistically in some way, and during the pandemic, I began training, and subsequently qualified as a Group Sound Relaxation Therapist with BAST (The British Academy of Sound Therapy).
I currently use Himalayan singing bowls, a Chau Gong, Crystal singing bowls and therapeutic percussion, which includes a gorgeous African rain stick, which sounds like waves breaking on the seashore.
I currently hold regular group sound bath relaxation sessions in my home area but am happy to travel a reasonable distance for private sound baths or corporate events.
Please contact me to discuss your specific requirements, and to get a quote. In these difficult times, it is more important than ever to look after your mental health. Consider trying a sound bath today!
